Rubidoux is a city located in the county of Riverside in the U.S. state of California.
Rubidoux is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Riverside County, California, United States. It is part of the Inland Empire region of Southern California. It is within the Jurupa Unified School District and is located within its boundaries. The population was 34,280 at the 2010 census. It lies in the San Gorgonio Pass, which separates Riverside County from San Bernardino County.
Rubidoux began as a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach line in 1858. The Rubidoux Post Office opened on May 13, 1905.
The town was originally established by the United States Department of Agriculture as a citrus growing operation in 1916. In 1921 it was sold to the Rubidoux Company, who planted more citrus trees and began selling real estate. On November 1, 1961 it was incorporated as part of Jurupa Valley. On July 1, 2011 it became part of the newly formed city of Jurupa Valley when it merged with other communities in southern California's Inland Empire region to form one city that would provide better services than its individual parts could manage on their own.
On July 1, 2011, Rubidoux became a neighborhood of the newly formed city of Jurupa Valley as part of a merger between the two cities. Also on this date, Rubidoux's boundaries were expanded to include the adjacent communities of Mira Loma and Pedley Ranchos.
