After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 841,286 inhabitants. Its county seat is El Paso. The county was created 153 years ago in 1870.
El Paso County is the westernmost county in Texas, located across the border from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The county was established in 1850 from portions of Santa Fe County, New Mexico.
The city of El Paso became the county seat in 1883. It was so named because it was the pass or crossing point along the Rio Grande river.
