Economy and Culture
The economy is led by retail, healthcare, and professional services. South Coast Plaza is one of the highest grossing shopping centers in the U.S. The Segerstrom Center for the Arts is the cultural heart of the city. The OC Fair & Event Center hosts the popular annual OC Fair. The area is also known for its vibrant food scene and award-winning craft breweries.
Geography
Costa Mesa is situated on a coastal plain between the Santa Ana River and Newport Bay. It features a mix of residential neighborhoods, urban business districts, and industrial areas. The San Diego Freeway bisects the western part of the city.
