Watervliet is a city in Albany County, New York. The population was 10,375 as of the 2020 census. Watervliet is north of Albany, the capital of the state, and is bordered on the north, west, and south by the town of Colonie.
The city is also known as "the Arsenal City", because it has more than 100 years of history in manufacturing weapons.
It is home to the Watervliet Arsenal, a historic industrial facility which was used during World War II to manufacture components for some of the nation's first nuclear weapons.
