Rio Grande City is the largest city and county seat of Starr County, with a population around 14,000 residents. This border city is located right along the Rio Grande River across from Ciudad Camargo, Mexico. Key attractions include historic architecture in the downtown area, the Rio Grande City Historic Museum, and birdwatching.
Roma is another historic border town located along the Rio Grande River that played an important role in the Mexican American War. With around 11,000 residents, this port city features unique sights like the Roma Historic District and Chapel of La Purísima Concepción.
Escobares is a very small town situated along U.S Highway 83 with just under 1,500 residents. Escobares was founded in 1912 through a land grant and hosts an annual Fall Festival street fair each November.
