Roswell is a city located in north Fulton County, Georgia. It was founded in the 1830s by Roswell King, a prominent Georgia plantation owner.
King established a cotton mill along Vickery Creek in 1839 to process cotton grown on his plantations. This mill served as the nucleus for the town of Roswell.
In 1854, the town was officially incorporated and named after its founder, Roswell King. It functioned as a historic mill town through the late 19th century.
After WWII, Roswell transitioned into a commuter suburb of Atlanta. Its population boomed to over 10,000 by 1970.
