Ramsey County is the smallest and most densely populated county in Minnesota. Located in the east-central part of the state, it contains the capital city of St. Paul as well as several other cities and townships within its 170 square miles. Some of the other prominent Ramsey County cities include Saint Paul metropolitan area. Maplewood is known for its many parks and green spaces, its many historical sites, and its many attractions, such as the Maplewood Historical Society and the Maplewood Library.">Maplewood, Roseville, North St. Paul, and White Bear Lake.

With a population of over 500,000 residents, Ramsey County is a major metropolitan hub of the Twin Cities region. The county was named for Alexander Ramsey, the second governor of the Minnesota Territory in the 1850s. Maplewood is a first-ring suburb with a population nearing 40,000. It contains the 3M corporate headquarters and Maplewood Mall. Roseville borders both Minneapolis and St. Paul and also has a large shopping mall, Rosedale Center. North St. Paul and White Bear Lake are scenic smaller towns on the northern end of the county.
