Pike County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 40,404 and a population density of 38 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 38,997 inhabitants. Its county seat is Magnolia. The county was created 209 years ago in 1814.
Pike County lies in southwestern Mississippi between the Louisiana border and the Mississippi River. It was founded in 1815 from a portion of Marion County and likely named for Zebulon Pike, an explorer.
The county is anchored by its seat of Magnolia and developed with cotton as a major crop. The railroad expanded commerce and population around the turn of the 20th century.
