Orange County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,145,956 and a population density of 441 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 1,404,396 inhabitants. Its county seat is Orlando. The county was created 199 years ago in 1824.
Orange County is located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,429,908, making it Florida's fifth most populous county. The county seat is Orlando. Orange County is the central county of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The area that today is Orange County was part of the first land to surface after a long period of rising sea levels formed the continental shelf that would later become Florida. The land mass formed from these accumulating sediments came to be known as Orange Island during colonial times before it was finally settled by European Americans in 1845 when a small community named "Alta Vista" was established nearby. This town would eventually become Orlando, which is today's most populous city within Orange County as well as being one of its most important economic centers and industrial hubs.
Orange County has been noted for its diversity since its inception as one of America's first major destination points for migrants from all over the world such as Germany and Ireland; however, it was also one of the last regions in America to be settled by non-Europeans due to its lack of natural resources like timber or minerals which attracted
