Nacogdoches County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 64,524 and a population density of 25 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 64,753 inhabitants. Its county seat is Nacogdoches. The county was created 168 years ago in 1856.

Nacogdoches County is located in eastern Texas, near the border with Louisiana. The county seat is the city of Nacogdoches. With a population around 65,000, Nacogdoches County contains some of the most historic sites in Texas.

History of Nacogdoches County

Nacogdoches County has a long and rich history. It was one of the earliest European settlements in Texas, founded as a Spanish mission in 1716. Nacogdoches was a hub for both the Spanish and French during their 18th century battles over the region.

In 1836, Nacogdoches played a role in the Texas Revolution as many local citizens joined the cause. The county was officially established that same year under the new Republic of Texas.
