The city was created 189 years ago in 1834.

Marshall is a city in Clark County, Illinois. The area was first settled in 1836 and originally named Darwin.

In 1855, the village name was changed to Marshall after statesman John Marshall. That same year, Marshall was officially established and platted.

The railroad reached Marshall in 1870, bringing economic growth to the region. By 1900, the population had exceeded 2,000 residents. Marshall was incorporated as a city in 1963.

Today, Marshall has a population of around 3,700 residents. Notable attractions include the Archer House Hotel and Museum, the Clark County Fairgrounds, and Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park.
