Kaufman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 103,350 and a population density of 49 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 143,198 inhabitants. Its county seat is Kaufman. The county was created 176 years ago in 1848.
Kaufman County is located in northeastern Texas, southeast of Dallas. It was established in 1848, separated from Henderson County. The county was named for David S. Kaufman, a diplomat and U.S. Representative from Texas.
The city of Kaufman became the county seat in 1851. It was named after founder David Kaufman and grew as an agricultural trade center and railroad stop.
