Hinds County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 245,285 and a population density of 108 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 227,966 inhabitants. Its county seat is Jackson, Raymond. The county was created 203 years ago in 1821.

Hinds County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2010 census, the population was 245,285, making it the most populous county in Mississippi. Its county seats are Raymond and Jackson, the state capital. 

Jackson is known as the "Birthplace of America's Music," and has been named one of America's "Top Ten Favorite Music Cities."

The county is named after William C. C. Claiborne's father-in-law James Hinds (1769–1849), who served as a justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court from 1804 to 1810 and again from 1813 to 1819, and was elected to represent Madison County in both houses of the state legislature.

Hinds County is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area and includes most of that city's suburbs southward from bordering Rankin County along with bits of adjacent Madison County to the north in Rankin and Perry counties at two points near their intersections with Rankin County's western border; this area is also known locally as "the triangle" because of its shape which resembles an inverted equilateral triangle when viewed on a map.
