Hesperia is located in the High Desert region of San Bernardino County. It was incorporated in 1988 and has grown steadily over the decades. Hesperia was named after the Greek word Hesperides, meaning "western land".
Geography
The city covers over 75 square miles of land. Hesperia sits at an elevation of 3,250 feet in the Mojave Desert. The landscape consists of scattered Joshua trees and desert scrub. Winters are cool and summers are hot.

As of the 2020 census, Hesperia had 97,000 residents. The population is predominantly white and Hispanic/Latino. Over 22% of residents live below the poverty line. The median household income is $50,817.
