Goodrich is a village in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,860 at the 2010 census. The village is a suburb of Flint located within Atlas Township. It is part of the Flint Metro Area, which has a population of 594,453 as of 2017.
Goodrich was incorporated as a village in 1957. The village was one of several municipalities that merged with Flint in 1960 to form the city of Flint while others, such as Atlas Township and Grand Blanc Township, remained separate but were surrounded by Flint's city limits. Prior to annexation by Flint, Goodrich was known as "Goodrichville".
The village's first municipal government consisted of three trustees and an attorney who served as clerk/treasurer until 1964 when they were replaced by a president and board of trustees. In 1962 voters approved a $4 million bond issue for construction of infrastructure needed for growth including streets, sewers and water lines; however, due to lack of funds only $100,000 could be borrowed from this source without prior approval from voters so additional funds were sought through grants from the State Housing Authority (SHA). Once these funds were secured SHA would provide an additional $2 million if needed but this condition was never met.
The village's early history includes two churches: St Agnes Catholic Church and Wesley Methodist Church; both have since closed leaving no active churches within the village limits today (2019).
The village motto is "A Great Place to Live, Work & Play!"
