Chardon, County seat of Geauga County, Ohio, United States
Chardon serves as the county seat and is located near the center of Geauga County. Around 5,000 people reside in Chardon. The town square has a historic courthouse and several shops and eateries. Nearby attractions include the Geauga County Fairgrounds and Ledgemont Country Club.
Chesterland is located along the western border of Geauga County, halfway between Cleveland and Chardon. This small rural town has around 3,000 residents. The area was originally settled in the early 1800s and still retains its small-town charm.
Middlefield lies between Chardon and Chesterland in the central part of the county. About 2,000 people live in this quaint village. Downtown Middlefield has historic buildings, antique shops, and restaurants lining its main street.
Burton Township covers Geauga County’s northeast corner. Within it, Burton Village has around 2,000 residents. It grew up around a mill, quarry, and orchard established in the 1820s. The Burton Public Library and other historic buildings grace the town square.
Newbury Township
Newbury Township occupies Geauga County’s southeast corner. It contains the unincorporated village of Newbury, which has just a few hundred residents but a rich history dating back to the early 1800s.
