As the fifth most populous county in California, San Joaquin Valley in central California. Just north of Fresno is Clovis, nicknamed "Gateway to the Sierras" thanks to its proximity to the majestic mountain range. Smaller towns like Sanger, Fowler, Selma, and Kingsburg reflect the agricultural roots of the area with their raisin and citrus festivals.
On the western side of the county, incorporated in 1955, lies the City of Madera - Spanish for "wood." Madera has leveraged its location near scenic Yosemite National Park to become a gateway for outdoor recreation while maintaining its old west atmosphere and affordable cost of living.
