Fremont County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2010 census, the population was 40,123 and a population density of 2 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 county had an estimated population of 39,317 inhabitants. Its county seat is Lander. The county was created 140 years ago in 1883.

Fremont County is located in west-central Wyoming. It was originally populated by Native American tribes like the Eastern Shoshone. The county was created in 1884 and named after Civil War general John C. Frémont.

In the 1880s, the county became important for cattle ranching and agriculture. The Wind River Indian Reservation was established in 1905.
