DeBary is a city located in the county of Volusia in the U.S. state of Florida. Its population at the 2010 census was 19,320 and a population density of 343 people per km². After 10 years in 2020 city had an estimated population of 21,572 inhabitants.
The city was created 31 years ago in 1992.
DeBary is a city in Volusia County, Florida. The city was founded in 1881 by Dr. Blanton Duncan and was named after De Bar family, who were early settlers in the area. DeBary is located on the eastern shore of the St. Johns River near Lake Monroe. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 20,696, which makes it one of the fastest growing cities in Volusia County.
The city was incorporated in 1921 and was named after its founder, Frank Debary who opened his first store in what is now DeBary in 1874. DeBary is home to many sports teams including baseball, football and basketball teams as well as being home to several parks and recreation areas such as Big Tree Park located on Lake Beresford which features a 1/4 mile walking trail around the lake for visitors who want to get some exercise while enjoying nature at its best with scenic views from atop one of its many hills or from around one of its many picnic tables located throughout the park itself where families can gather together during their free time whether it be during lunchtime or after school hours when kids are done with homework assignments for tomorrow's class.
DeBary is home to many attractions including:
- The Ritz Theatre & Cinema Barrow (a historic theater that has been restored and hosts movie screenings and live shows)
- DeLand Historical Museum (which features exhibits on local history)
- The DeLand Art Center and Gallery (which features art exhibitions throughout the year)
- DeBary Historical Society Museum (housed in an old train station)
