The city was created 73 years ago in 1950.

Arden Hills is a small suburban city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, just north of St. Paul. With a population around 10,000, Arden Hills is a quiet residential community known for its natural amenities.

Notable Features

Lake Johanna

This large 220-acre lake offers swimming, boating, fishing and other recreation in the summer. It has a beach, walking trail, and fishing pier for visitors.

Tony Schmidt Regional Park

This 450-acre park contains hiking, biking and cross-country skiing trails through hardwood forests and wetlands. It connects to the larger Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve.

Bethel University

This private Christian university relocated to Arden Hills in 2021. It has around 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

U.S. Army Arden Hills Training Site

This National Guard training site takes up a large section of Arden Hills. The 337-acre site has been used for military training since the 1950s.
