History
High Point was settled in the mid-1800s as a railroad town and trading post. It was incorporated in 1859 and became a major industrial hub, focused on the furniture, hosiery, and textile industries.
High Point grew rapidly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as factories and mills were established. The High Point Market launched in 1909, cementing it as a global furniture design center.
